Shopping & Dining in Portland’s Old Port area
The Old Port in downtown Portland, Maine, is an amazing place to be in this wonderful weather, and is not far from the Festiva Adventure Club office in Portland. The Old Port has a wonderful old world charm about it. You will stroll up and down old cobblestone roads while window shopping in the most unique locally-owned shops.
Shopping in the Old Port is not only a great way to spend the day but also a great way to help the local economy and artists and craftsmen in the area. You can spend many hours shopping in the shops. There are wonderful art galleries to enjoy also .
When you need a break from shopping you can stroll down to the waterfront and grab a lobster roll or a wonderful fresh seafood meal fresh right from the fishermen. Scenic Float Plane Tours
Take a beautiful scenic flight that leaves right out of Rangeley Lake and takes up north. You and your family will be able to take in the Bigelow Mountain Range and Flagstaff Lake before you head west and the pilot will take you through numerous mountains and valleys. Pirate’s Cove opened this month!

From May to the middle of October you can enjoy some great scenery and mini golf at Pirate’s Cove in Old Orchard Beach! The two, 18-hole mini-golf courses provided will take you through caves, over bridges and under waterfalls. Luckily they designed it for both experts and children so the whole family can enjoy themselves!
Tickets start at just $7 and go up to $12 depending on your age and the course you choose. Pirate’s Cove has been awarded the “Best of Maine 2009” as the best mini golf course in Maine by Down East Magazine and they are located on First Street in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. On the beach in Maine!

Since the weather has been so nice out these days, now is the time to learn about some great beaches in the area! Some of York’s beaches are Harbor Beach, Long Sands Beach and Short Sands Beach. Harbor Beach is small with mild waves and parking is free. Lifeguards are on duty from the end of June until Labor Day.
Some of Ogunquit’s beaches include Footbridge Beach, Moody Beach and of course Ogunquit Beach. This beach has soft sand and is admired by families. You can access the beach by a nice trolley ride from a few different parking lots. This beach even has lifeguards, restrooms and snack bars for your convenience and it is considered one of the prettiest 3.5 miles of peninsula beach in the country!
Some of Wells beaches consist of Drakes Island Beach, Crescent Beach and Wells Beach. These beaches have lifeguards and limited parking. The Kennebunk area has several beaches including Mother’s Beach, Gooch’s Beach, Middle Beach, Colony Beach, Cleaves Cove Beach and Goose Rocks Beach. Mother’s Beach is a great beach that is well protected and has a playground and lifeguard but no facilities.
Of course Old Orchard Beach is continuously voted Maine’s number one beach every year by Maine’s largest newspaper. It has seven miles of sand, amusement parks and food as well as lifeguards! To learn more about the various beaches, visit this useful website!

Nonesuch River Golf Club
Golfing season is in full swing and Nonesuch River Golf Club is open and ready for business. This meticulously maintained, 18-hole public championship golf course is located in beautiful Scarborough, Maine.
