Portland Golf Expo
The Portland Golf Expo will be taking place this weekend at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland Maine.
Come on in Saturday, February 22, from 9 am to 5 pm or Sunday, February 21, from 9 am to 3 pm. Tickets are only $9 at the door and well worth the price.
There will be contests, clinics, door prizes, donations, and thousands of dollars in give-a-ways. New to the expo this year is a silent auction offering golf merchandise, sports memorabilia and more. Dog Sledding
At Nahmakanta Lake Camps in Maine, there is still fun that can be had even in the middle of the winter. Dog sledding is offered there and you can even be in control of the dogs as you slide across Maine’s beautiful landscape. The dog sledding takes place on the backdrop of Katahdin, which is considered New England’s wildest and snowiest mountain range.
At first a guide will take you out with a team of Huskies and then return you to a cabin every night to a warm fire and a home cooked meal. Everyone within reasonable shape will then be able to learn how to drive their own team and enjoy what it is like to have complete control.

Spend an exciting weekend at Maine’s Moosehead Lake Region!

Located 3 hours from Portland, Maine, the Moosehead Lake Region is a great place to visit any time of the year. Not only is it the perfect relaxing getaway, but there are also plenty of events that the whole family will enjoy. On Saturdays they have cross-country skiing outings. All you need is your skis and a bagged lunch and children are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult. This takes place every other Saturday starting January 2.
Tonight at 5:30 they are even having a Chili/Chowder and more cook-off which features many of their local chefs. Tomorrow they have their Annual Cook Out-Cook In where you can enjoy deep fried turkey, hamburgers and hot dogs! You will also get to make your own s’mores on the fire there! Lunch is free but donations are appreciated! Also taking place tomorrow at 9am is a snowmobile scavenger ride! You’ll get your own map which will lead you to a treasure while getting to see the beautiful view along the way! This Sunday is Valentine’s Day so you can be sure to enjoy something special! At 1pm they are hosting a chocolate festival! You will get the chance to choose 12 samples from a selection of 30 goodies. There is even a children’s corner with some delicious food and neat prizes!

On February 18th at 10am there will be some fun activities taking place including horse and wagon rides, a clown, jugglers, face painting, free hot chocolate and even beautiful fireworks on the ice! On February 19th Sno-fest will come to an end with a snowmobile parade and a bonfire with hot chocolate and cookies!

Stop by Old Orchard Beach for their Winter Carnival, February 18th-20th. The purpose of this event is to celebrate winter while bringing the community together. It all kicks off on Thursday, February 18th with the Miss Winter Carnival Contest at Jimmy The Greeks. Tickets are only $5 unless you buy the Winter Carnival button, then it’s free.
You can also expect to enjoy a game night with a tournament at JJ’s Eatery and also Texas Hold-em at The Strike Zone. Stop by the school practice fields on Friday for snow golf, ice bowling and more! There are plenty of other activities continuing through Saturday including tobogganing down Old Orchard Street, a Penguin Plunge that will benefit the ballpark and more winter events.
You definitely can’t miss the “Souper Bowl” contest that will feature citizens and eateries fighting for the big prize. The attending public will chose the winner. The social at The Brunswick with Motor Booty Affair should be a blast as well! From 5:00-6:30 there will be a happy hour pub crawl that will start at The Bell Buoy and continue on! Winter Fun

Moosehead Lake Snofest
The Moosehead Lake Snofest is an annual celebration of winter activities that can take place in the beautiful state of Maine. The fun begins on February 12th and continues until the 19th. There will be a Family Fun Day, A Chili Chowder Cook-Off, snowmobile parades, bonfires, and snowmobile competitions!
There will be dog racing, chocolate tasting, and more ice skating parties than you can think of!
