Black Fly Loops in Rangeley!
Black Fly Snowmobile Loop trails go through the very center of the Franklin County, traveling through a variety of places such as Eustis, Oquossoc, New Hampshire, Rangeley and Wilton. “The Loop” consists of more than 300 miles of mountain trails and holds the widest variety of snowmobiling bliss in the East. It is also considered one of the Top 40 Hot Spots in the US and Canada to ride in!

Don’t miss the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony tomorrow!

L.L. Bean is having their annual celebration full of fantastic activities tomorrow night at 7pm. The entire L.L. Bean property is going to be completely lit up with festive lights and the Don Campbell Band will be playing some nice music to get people in the holiday mood. They have one of the largest trees in Maine and it’s the only one with thousands of multi-colored energy efficient LED lights that get hand strung by a local artist and designer, Pandora LaCasse. The tree lighting ceremony will take place at Discovery Park.
In addition to the tree lighting ceremony there will also be a North Star Orchards tasting from 4-7pm at the Home Store and from 5-8pm there will be a book signing for The Happiness Tree with author Lisa Bossi at the Flagship Store.

Don’t miss the old-fashioned carriage rides from November 21st – December 27th on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-7pm on Main Street at the Flagship Store. Certain days throughout November and December will have a complimentary valet parking service as well so be sure to stop by the website to learn more.
Saturday’s events include a book signing with author Jeremy D’Entremont for his book, Lighthouses of Maine, from 11-2pm; create your own snowflake with Maine artist, Mary Jo Marquis, from 11-3pm; and Stonewall Kitchen taste testing from 11-3pm.
On Sunday there will be create a paper tree to help celebrate the season with Maine artist Mary Jo Marquis from 11-3pm and Long Grove Confections taste testing from 12-3pm!

Ride the Magical Polar Express

Celebrate Christmas at Victoria Mansion!

If you’ll be in the Portland area between November 27th and January 3rd, you should make plans to check out Victoria Mansion. They will be open Tuesday-Sunday from 11:00-5:00. The cost is only $15 for adults, $5 for students ages 6-17, free for kids under the age of 6, $6 for Victoria Mansion Members and $35 per family of up to two adults and five children ages 6-17.

They went all out decorating for the holidays and even got professional designers, decorators and florists to help make it very festive! You can walk through the house at your own pace on a self-guided tour with a program. There will be staff on hand to answer any questions you may have. Guided tours can be arranged if you are part of a group that has more than ten people. Simply call the mansion’s office at (207) 772-4841.
If you don’t recognize the name, Victoria Mansion is also known as the Morse-Libby House. It is from the pre-Civil War era in America. It’s a great example of 19th century design and it has remarkable architecture and original interiors that were considered the most classy back in their day.

The museum shop features a selection of Victorian style gifts such as toys, games, jewelry, decorations and books. It is located in the Carriage House next to the Mansion and it can be visited without paying admission. They offer a much wider range of items during Christmas time.

Nutcracker!
You know the holidays are upon us when The Nutcracker begins its yearly showings! The Maine State Ballet puts their ballet dancers into action right after Thanksgiving at the Merrill Auditorium in Portland and the experience is something you will never forget.
