Ogunquitfest 2009 is Here!

Looking for some fun fall festivities? The 6th annual Ogunquitfest begins this Thursday at 6 pm and will take place until Sunday evening. It’s just a quick 30 minute drive from Portland, and Ogunquit has everything from shopping and art to entertainment and dining.
Activities include a haunted house and maze at the Booth Theater on Beach Street, and a cornstalk maze ending with a prize for the little ones. Take a ghostly tour through the dark streets of Ogunquit with friends of the Wynn House. Crafters, artists and local retailers will have unique gifts for sale at the Autumn Bazaar Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm at the Main Beach parking lot. Other festivities include pony rides, horse-drawn wagon rides, pumpkin and cookie decorating, the high heel dash, a classic car show, children’s story telling, the costume parade and casino night. Come on down to Oqunquit and check out all the fun activities for kids of all ages.

Skiing season has officially started!

It seems like only yesterday when it started getting a little too chilly for the beach and then last week Sunday River became the first resort in the East to open for ski season. They opened temporarily yesterday from 8:00-3:30 for their opening day celebration. If you missed out on yesterday’s event, there are many more events happening before their kick-off party on December 19th to celebrate the beginning of their 50th birthday!

On Oct. 30-31, Pumpkinhead Festival will be coming to Sunday River and it will include the Hike the River Fundraiser for The Maine Cancer Foundation and a performance by comedian Bob Marley. Also on 10/31 is the Full Moon Halloween Dinner at the Peak which includes trick or treating, a Chondola ride and a full moon party with dinner and entertainment! At Annual Demo Days, which will take place on 11/28 and 11/29, you can try products from major manufacturers and purchase what you like. The 10th Annual Santa Sunday takes place on 12/6 to raise money for a good cause. Plus if you come dressed in a full Santa costume you can ski or ride for free and get two early season lift tickets to come back absolutely free!

Deering Oaks!!

It’s almost time for OgunquitFest!

The OgunquitFest kicks off on Thursday, October 22, and it goes through Sunday, October 25! It takes place throughout Ogunquit and the beautiful Maine beaches. It is being hosted by the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce. You can contact Frances Reed at 207-646-1279 with any questions.
It all begins on Thursday with a haunted house from 6pm-9pm at the Booth Theater on Beach Street. It costs $12 for adults and $10 for kids over the age of 10. There will also be a cornstalk maze that will lead to a prize for the little ones!

On Friday there will be ghostly tours from 6:30pm-8pm at the Ogunquit Heritage Museum on Obeds Lane. You better bring your flashlight! The cost is $5 for adults and children under 10 are free!
There are quite a few different things in store for Saturday. There is a classic car show and cruise, an Autumn bazaar, horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch presentation, pony rides, a high heel dash, children’s fall storytelling, a haunted house and maze as well as casino night!
Sunday will involve an Autumn bazaar, a costume parade and the bridge to beach bed race!

Portland Pirates Hockey is Back!
Portland Pirates Hockey is back in action! This is the 16th season for the Pirates who host their home games at the Civic Center in downtown Portland. The American Hockey League team is a big part of Portland and its residents.
